Prince Fielder's choice: The Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers have made a huge, unexpected splash in free agency.  After loosing their star catcher Victor Martinez for the upcoming season due to a torn ACL, there was clearly a void in their lineup.  They still have Miguel Cabrera locked up through 2015, but he couldn't shoulder the scoring burden.  I thought they would sign a solid bat, but not commit 9 years and 214 million to Prince.

Fielder, 27, is a career .282 hitter, with a .390 on base percentage(only going up), and he will certainly fill the hole Martinez will leave in that lineup.  Nobody saw this coming, especially knowing that Cabrera has played first base for them for a few years.  It's already been reported that he will move over to third, where he played back in his Florida Marlin's days.

We know the Tigers have the best pitching staff in the A.L. Central, with the best pitcher in the game in Verlander, and Max Scherzer leading the way.  There should be no excuse for them barring any injuries to not win their division.
